Garrett Penton, PA-C

Garrett Penton, PA-C, is a certified physician assistant with over ten years of diverse experience. Garrett earned his Master of Physician Assistant Studies and Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also holds a Master of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Before joining AdventHealth, Garrett served as a physician assistant at Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where he was Section Chair for urgent care and walk-in services. His previous roles included orthopedic trauma PA at Dignity Health Chandler Orthopedics in Arizona, as a family practice PA, and as a U.S. Air Force captain at Luke Air Force Base. Garrett has also coached youth athletics and served on community wellness boards.

I enjoy spending time with my family and 3 children. We enjoy many outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, camping, snow skiing, and surfing (I am looking forward to teaching them with our return home to Florida). I also enjoy playing beach volleyball and coaching Track and Field with a special interest in the Pole Vault. Occasionally I compete in USATF masters competitions. When we cannot be outside, I like to spend time reading novels typically in the science genre.

I firmly believe in the importance of understanding the “why” behind medical practices and patient care. I advocate for a patient-centered approach that involves patients in their care decisions and empowers them to comprehend the rationale behind recommended treatments and approaches. I believe this fosters a deeper connection between patients and their healthcare providers, enabling alignment of treatment goals with the patient’s aspirations.
