Lymphedema
We know how living with chronic lymphedema can impact your quality of life. Surgery is not a primary treatment for lymphedema; however, we offer surgical debulking of lymphedema limbs for eligible patients. Certain procedures can be effective for those who qualify:
- Liposuction: Through suction-assisted lipectomy, we can remove large pieces of fatty scar tissue.
- Lymphovenous bypass (LVB): Existing lymphatic vessels are rerouted around the damaged area and connected to nearby working vessels, allowing lymphatic fluid to drain properly.
Vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT): Healthy lymph nodes from another part of the body are transplanted to the affected area.
