Rakesh Kumar, MD

I am a neurosurgeon with a career that has spanned both the United Kingdom and the United States. After completing medical school, I trained to be a general surgeon and then a neurosurgeon in England. Following my training in the UK, I was invited to train and work in the United States, where I completed my board certification in neurosurgery. I established my solo practice in Tampa in 1999, and have been dedicated to providing comprehensive neurosurgical care ever since. I keep up with latest advances in techniques, incorporating into my practice to include robotic spine surgery as well. A significant part of my practice is devoted to helping those with previously failed spine procedures and with complex disorders. In addition to my clinical practice, I am deeply committed to medical education. I am actively involved in teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians, both locally, across the United States, and overseas.

I make time to enjoy the world through travel, deepening appreciation for diverse cultures and their history. Photography also keeps me busy capturing moments in nature and in urban and remote environments. I enjoy diving into new challenges and dedication to continuous problem solving. Thus, I have taught myself computers, programming and networking.
