The Orlando Magic recently hosted a panel discussion as part of its Walk With Us Town Hall Series. The series is part of efforts to reflect and honor the rich history and culture of the Black community, while continuing the ongoing pursuit of racial equality.
AdventHealth Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Jessica Brazier joined leaders on the panel from the Orlando Magic, PepsiCo North America and Amway to discuss a number of key topics such as the importance of diversity, equality, equity and inclusion across our communities, as well as addressing social change.
“I am so optimistic because we are seeing this shift in consciousness that makes the potential for impact so rich,” said Brazier. “We are beginning to see strength in numbers and strength in coming together. There is a richness in having diversity of thought – diversity of industry – tackling these really big problems together.”
Inclusiveness is one of AdventHealth’s core values, and Brazier emphasized how the organization continues to embed diversity, equity and inclusion into the fabric of its culture and business practices.
“We're serving about 6 million patients a year in various communities,” said Brazier. “We determined years ago that we would be in a better position to serve our patients, serve our customers, if we reflect and represent the diversity of these communities that our customers are a part of. So, to that end, we embed diversity, equity and inclusion in everything we do. It's in our DNA.”
In honor of Black History Month, the month-long webinar series has brought together community leaders and experts from a number of industries for important conversations of topics of social and economic change.
