U.S. News and World Report has released its annual list of Best Hospitals for 2022-2023, which has ranked AdventHealth hospitals as some of the best in the states and cities where they are located. Procedures and specialty care at AdventHealth hospitals were also recognized for their excellence.
Among the top rankings were AdventHealth Orlando, which ranked #1 hospital in Orlando for the 12th consecutive year, #2 for all of Florida and nationally for specialties that include cancer, diabetes/endocrinology, gastroenterology, obstetrics/gynecology, neurology, orthopedics and neonatology. AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Kansas, AdventHealth Daytona Beach in Florida and AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares, Florida, also ranked among the best in their state.
“Recognition like this isn’t earned in one day or by one person,” AdventHealth President/CEO Terry Shaw said on LinkedIn. “This takes a team of dedicated, talented people who treat their patients as they would their own loved ones, just like it says on the hearts we wear with our badges.”
For the 2022-2023 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. For the first time, U.S. News rated eligible hospitals in ovarian cancer surgery, prostate cancer surgery and uterine cancer surgery. In the 15 specialties, 164 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. State and metro area rankings reflect the highest performing hospitals across multiple areas of care.
“When patients and their medical professionals are considering their options for care, the rankings are designed to help them identify hospitals that are superior in the kind of care they may need,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News.
U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance using a variety of measures such as survival rates, complication rates, patient experience and level of nursing care.
