On Thursday morning, July 21, AdventHealth Redmond hosted the Rome Floyd Chamber of Commerce for a Business Before Hours event to celebrate the hospital’s 50 years of service to the Rome-Floyd community.
Hospital team members, local business leaders and the Rome Floyd Chamber gathered under a tent to eat breakfast and pay tribute to the ongoing impact AdventHealth Redmond has each day. The crowd was one of the first to witness the newly installed AdventHealth hospital sign.
AdventHealth Redmond president and CEO Mike Murrill addressed the crowd and said, “The legacy of health care over the past 50 years will continue into the future as we live our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ.”
Julie Barnes, MD, AdventHealth Redmond chief medical officer, described a timeline of medical innovations in the region including the first total joint replacement, first vascular surgery, first open-heart surgery and first balloon angioplasty of the heart. Dr. Barnes reiterated the commitment AdventHealth Redmond has made to continue the groundbreaking work and address the health needs of the surrounding community.
“I have seen AdventHealth’s initiatives underway and know this partnership will be a plus for this community,” said Mike Rogers, MD, board member and vascular surgeon who has worked with AdventHealth Redmond for over 40 years.
The event concluded with a ribbon cutting and celebratory cake, presented by the Rome Floyd Chamber president, Pam Powers-Smith.
