The 2023 AdventHealth Redmond Medical Staff Award recipients are:
Physician of the Year: J. Michael Ware, MD, Cardiologist
Nominators describe Dr. Ware as genuinely caring, personable, loyal, a mentor, a lifesaver, humble, approachable, selfless and a leader.
“Dr. Ware is a pioneer in cardiology. He has been a leader among his peers for decades. He was the first electrophysiology physician in Rome, Georgia, in 1990. He is highly respected by his colleagues, who look up to him as a mentor and role model. Despite Dr. Ware's many accomplishments, he remains humble and approachable. He is loved by all the nurses he works with, and his patients often refer to him as friend. He truly embodies AdventHealth’s service standards of Love Me, Keep Me Safe, Make It Easy and Own It. He is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that his patients receive the best possible care. He is a pillar in the community. He is deeply committed to giving back, and he serves his community through fundraising and his work. He is always willing to lend a helping hand. He is an exceptional physician who has made a significant impact in his field and in his community. He is truly deserving of the Physician of the Year award, and I cannot think of anyone who would be a more worthy recipient.” - Susan Webb, RN, Cardiopulmonary PCU
Advanced Practice Provider: Christina Crane, CFNP, Emergency Medicine
Nominators describe Crane as decisive, nurturing, kind, supportive, hardworking, compassionate and intuitive.
“Christina always does her best to keep everyone positive with her kind and caring personality. Patients love her, she treats everyone with respect and makes them feel as if they are the most important person she is caring for. She is always willing to help even doing a nursing task that really isn't something she has to do. She makes you feel like family, and she provides excellent care and is a gift to everyone in the department,” said an anonymous nominator.
Rising Star Award: John Allison, DO, Hospital Medicine
Dr. Allison is described as supportive, brilliant, a great patient advocate, compassionate, caring, knowledgeable and a great diagnostician in the hospital.
“Working night shifts, Dr. Allison handles the entire hospital with confidence and calmness. He is easily approachable with any questions I have had. He is compassionate towards each patient he sees, and he always tries to explain their situation to them in terms they would easily understand. He always wants the best for each patient he sees. I've experienced personally seeing him calm an angry patient down, convincing them to stay and be admitted and receive the care they need in order to get better. He is a great team player, and we are lucky to have him,” said an anonymous nominator.
