Christine Bond, RN, has been named AdventHealth Gordon’s latest DAISY Award recipient. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human tasks nurses perform every day.
Bond, a cancer services navigator at AdventHealth Gordon, was nominated by two patients who said the following:
“The first time my mom talked to Christine on the phone she thought she was a counselor, so she told Christine all of her emotional and physical issues and Christine listened to her. Later that day, Christine texted me and arranged a wheelchair for mom and lined up a surgeon for her breast cancer removal. Wow, she really knows what people need and she made our day. She is a blessing to everyone and really cares about people. People like her are hard to find nowadays.”
“It’s an honor as a patient to nominate Christine for the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses. I first met her when I came to the breast center for a mammogram. She took so much time to make sure I understood everything that would take place. I knew immediately God had placed me in loving hands which was the beginning of my breast cancer journey. I connected with her voice when she told me I would be okay and I knew with her help, I could beat this terrible disease. She matched me with a wig that was exactly my hair color and style. I can’t praise her enough with how she has made me accept my breast cancer and continues to give me strength to go on. Her loving, caring voice will always be with me.”
“I have had the pleasure to work alongside Christine for 12 years,” said Emily Tarpley, operation manager of oncology services at AdventHealth Gordon. She has always gone above and beyond for her patients. "She is much more than a navigator. She advocates for her patients and is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure they are cared for in every way possible. We are blessed to have someone of Christine’s knowledge, experience, and loving heart on the team at the Edna Owens Breast Center. She lives out the mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ and our service standards daily with each and every patient. She is an inspiration not only to her patients but to her coworkers as well. I am so happy Christine has received the DAISY award. It is well deserved.”
