PALM COAST, Fla. May 26, 2016 On May 24, Florida Hospital Flagler hosted a community seminar. Called Moving Into Your Daughters Attic: Housing Options As You Age, the seminar featured Maitland attorney Mary Merrell Bailey and addressed the residential options available to elderly seniors and the choices faced by those who cannot live safely alone. The seminar featured real-world examples and shed light on the concerns of seniors in this position.
Bailey also discussed pros and cons of living with family, the option of introducing caregivers into the home and communal care.
I've faced this scenario head-on when helping my own parents through it, so I know how challenging this can be, she said. For each family and individual, there is a different best decision, which is why legal counsel can be so helpful in navigating the multitude of options available.
Bailey is a managing partner at Your Caring Law Firm and practices as an attorney in estate planning, probate, trust administration, and other fields.
This program was part of Florida Hospital Flagler Foundations community open forum educational series hosted by Bill Tol, planned giving coordinator for the Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties.
