NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., January 13, 2017 Florida Hospital New Smyrna has selected Dr. John Greene to serve as chief medical officer (CMO).
In this role, Greene will oversee Florida Hospital New Smyrna's functions related to physicians and patient care, including medical staff services, credentialing, compliance with accrediting bodies, patient satisfaction, infection control and other quality of care measures.
We are thrilled to have Dr. Greene complete our leadership team. He's been a part of our hospital for more than three decades and brings an incredible devotion to our hospital and community, said Ken Mattison, Florida Hospital New Smyrna CEO. I know first-hand that Dr. Greene is dedicated to our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ and will stop at nothing to make our hospital even better for the sake of our patients.
Board certified by the American Board of Urology, Greene has nearly 45 years of experience as a practicing urologist and has been serving the New Smyrna Beach community since 1984. He has previously served as chief of surgery, chairman of utilization review/medical records, chairman of credentials and by-laws, and on the peer review board of the 112-bed New Smyrna Beach facility.
A New Smyrna Beach resident, Greene earned medical degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and completed a surgical internship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Greene served in the U.S. Air Force for two years as a general medicine physician before undergoing further training with a residency in general surgery as well as urology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Missouri, an affiliated teaching hospital of Washington University Medical Center.
