NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. May 24, 2018 The Florida Hospital New Smyrna Foundation has awarded New Smyrna Beach High School senior Caitlin Sachiko Chiampou with a $3,000 scholarship from the Charlie and Elaine Meyer Scholarship fund.
Chiampou will attend the University of Florida in the fall to pursue a degree in nursing.
She graduates from New Smyrna Beach High School as third in a class of more than 400 students.
During her high school career, Chiampou served as the vice president of her senior class and played on the soccer team, as well as competed in track and field. In addition, she is a member of Interact Club and International Club.
In 2008, Charlie and Elaine Meyer established this endowed scholarship to provide a New Smyrna Beach High School student with a scholarship to pursue a medical degree. Each year, a Florida Hospital New Smyrna nursing committee reviews the applications and selects the recipient.
The scholarship program is an integral part of Florida Hospital New Smyrna's philosophy of support for education, and helps provide students opportunities to pursue their healthcare career goals.
