PALM COAST, Fla., June 1, 2016 On May 20, Florida Hospital Flagler presented a $5,000 donation to the Flagler County Education Foundation to support Flagler County Public Schools Classroom to Careers Flagship programs.
"Florida Hospital Flagler's gift is an inspiration to other businesses and community leaders who understand the strong connection between an educated workforce and the health of a community, said Deborah Williams, executive director of the Flagler Education Foundation. Preparing students for healthcare careers is among the top priorities for our community."
The Classroom to Careers initiative is a districtwide effort that encourages students to explore and ultimately succeeds through community partnerships and project-based learning. One focus area of the program is health science, which Florida Hospital Flagler has helped develop during the past two years.
Last May, Florida Hospital Flagler contributed to the opening of the Rymfire Elementary Flagship Medical Lab by donating medical equipment to facilitate hands-on learning for the students.
A portion of the $5,000 donation will be used to continue supporting the Rymfire Medical Lab, said Williams. The remainder of the funds will be used to continue expanding the programs and preparing students for careers.
We are so proud to support the Flagler County Education Foundation, said Robert Davis, Florida Hospital Flagler chief nursing officer. These funds will help our children learn and grow, and perhaps one day they will become our future doctors and nurses, caring for us right here at home.
