DELAND, Fla., June 8, 2017 On May 30, Florida Hospital DeLand provided free sports physicals to more than 150 student athletes at DeLand High School.
A team of seven local healthcare providers, as well as Florida Hospital DeLand employees, volunteered their time and talents to provide free sports physicals for the local student athletes.
Not only can sports help students stay healthy and in shape, but sports can also teach important life lessons like discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, accountability, and teamwork, said Lita Kapuscinski, Florida Hospital DeLand director of business development. We love our community and feel blessed to have the opportunity to provide these free physicals and help our local student athletes play in the upcoming sports seasons.
While the hospital provided the sports physicals free of charge, DeLand High School did ask families for a $10 donation to help equip the schools sports medicine department. Collectively, the students raised $1,150 during this event.
