Murray Medical Center employees go red for women

(Chatsworth, Ga.) According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease in the U.S. kills approximately one woman every 80 seconds. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.

Murray Medical Center employees joined the American Heart Associations Go Red for Women movement on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 to help raise awareness and save more lives.

Initiated by the American Heart Association, Wear Red Day is a national awareness movement held on the first Friday of every February created to highlight the number one cause of death among women: heart disease, stroke, and all other cardiovascular diseases.

The American Heart Association is the nations oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. Founded by six cardiologists in 1924, the organization now includes more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters. It funds innovative research, fights for stronger public health policies, and provides critical tools and information to save and improve lives. The nationwide organization includes 156 local offices and more than 3,000 employees.
