DELAND, Fla., March 13, 2017 Florida Hospital DeLand has named Tonya Trost as the new director of the emergency department and 3 West unit of the hospital.
Florida Hospital DeLand's emergency department is a 28-bed unit and has the second-highest volume of the Florida Hospital ERs in Volusia County. The 3 West unit is Florida Hospital DeLand's voluntary, inpatient mental health unit.
As the director of both units, Trost will oversee and direct the day-to-day activities of the units, ensuring the team follows the mission and strategic goals of the hospital.
Trost has been a registered nurse for 27 years, 20 of which has been in nursing management.
She began her career with Florida Hospital DeLand in October 2015. She most recently served as emergency department manager and was responsible for day-to-day management of the emergency department staff and patient care activities.
A Port Orange resident, Trost earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. In addition, she is certified through the American Association of Critical Care Nurses as an Adult/Geriatric Acute and Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist. She received this national certification after completing the post-masters clinical nurse specialist degree program through the University of Missouri-Columbia.
