DELAND, Fla., January 17, 2018 Florida Hospital DeLand recognized registered nurse Tracy Jordan with the DAISY award.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care provided by nurses. Created in 1999, more than 2,400 healthcare facilities in all 50 states, as well as 14 other countries, use the DAISY Award to honor nurses.
Prior to becoming a registered nurse, Jordan ran three group homes for mentally and physically challenged adults and children. She graduated from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, with her nursing degree in 2012. In April 2017, she joined the nursing team at Florida Hospital DeLand in the emergency department.
Tracy is very creative and thinks outside the box to help drive care and reach our goals, said Michele Lebron, Florida Hospital DeLand director of critical care, the progressive care unit, and nursing administration. She is an incredibly hard-working nurse and exemplifies our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ. She is a true advocate for the patients and families she serves, always showing kindness and compassion.
In recognition of this honor, Jordan received a $200 gift card, a vase of daisies, an award pin, a tote bag, and a hand-carved stone sculpture of the Healers Touch by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
Her team, Florida Hospital DeLand's emergency department, also received cinnamon rolls and a DAISY banner to display.
