Due to an increase in respiratory illnesses across the region, including flu, COVID-19 and RSV, AdventHealth is implementing temporary visitor restrictions and safety protocols at its North Carolina facilities to help protect patients, visitors and team members.
“These measures are being taken out of an abundance of care for our community,” said Victoria Dunkle, Spokesperson for AdventHealth North Carolina. “Our priority is to provide safe, compassionate care while reducing the spread of illness, especially among our most vulnerable patients.”
Visitor restrictions and protocols include:
- Patients experiencing respiratory symptoms are asked to notify team members at check-in.
- Visitors with symptoms of illness are encouraged to postpone their visit until they are symptom-free.
- Visitors under the age of 18 are not permitted at this time.
- Visitors for patients on respiratory illness protocols are required to wear a mask.
AdventHealth also encourages everyone entering its facilities to help prevent the spread of illness by wearing high-quality, well-fitting masks when appropriate, covering coughs and sneezes and practicing frequent hand hygiene using soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
“These precautions allow us to continue caring for the whole person — body, mind and spirit — while supporting the health of our patients, families and caregivers,” Dunkle added.
Visitor restrictions will be evaluated regularly based on community illness trends and guidance from public health partners.
