Tonya Turner, RN, has been awarded Gordon Hospitals prestigious Extra Mile Award.
This special award was created by members of the hospitals Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to deserving employees selected by the hospitals directors.
Tonya is a competent, self-starter who always takes time to provide encouragement to staff and is a wealth of knowledge, said Sandy Barton, emergency room director. She works to make sure our staff has their educational needs met. In the process of this, she was the key component in the education for the new equipment during the renovation process. She is also the driver of the DAISY Award for nurses.
I am very honored to receive this award, said Turner. I really enjoy my job and my interactions with patients and staff. I work with some great co-workers that allow me to do my very best for Gordon Hospital.
Turner graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. where she earned her bachelor of science in nursing. She is also a graduate of Reinhardt University.
Tonya resides in Calhoun with her husband, Tony Turner, and her twin sons Elijah and Nathan. Outside of her profession, Tonya enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.
