Biography: John A. Cowan Jr., MD, FAANS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon serving teens and adults of all ages in Rome and Northwest Georgia. Dr. Cowan is deeply committed to the care of all his patients. His end goal is to mitigate disease and help his patients feel whole.
Dr. Cowan is a graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in neurosurgery at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Dr. Cowan was a health and society scholar of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation at the University of Michigan department of epidemiology. He is board-certified in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Cowan is on the Executive Board of the Georgia Neurosurgical Society where he previously served as president.
Personal Interests: Along with providing his patients with exceptional care, Dr. Cowan enjoys spending time with his family and is committed to living out his faith.
