On Nov. 18, more than 1,200 students, faculty and staff headed to more than 60 agencies in the Tampa, Denver, and Orlando areas to serve the community.
“This is the first time we’ve come together with our students to serve our community in this way,” said Kendra Presley, director of student and community engagement for AdventHealth University. “This is a historic day for our university, as service learning is such an important part of developing professionals who will practice health care as a ministry.”
Agencies supported include Tampa Bay Watch, Feeding Tampa Bay, Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Keep Orlando Beautiful, Howell Branch Preserve, Cristo Rey Orlando High School, Gifted Minds Early Learning Center, Habitat for Humanity, iDignity, Orlando Museum of Art, Orlando Union Rescue, and Special Olympics Florida.
"The most meaningful part for me today is really seeing our students understanding the meaning of service and their role in making the community a better place to be," said C. Josef Ghosn, EdD, FACHE, president of AdventHealth University.
