The AdventHealth Murray Mammography team has received a three-year accreditation from the American College of Radiology.

CHATSWORTH, Ga. AdventHealth Murray has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®).

A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women. It uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breast tissue and detect changes or abnormalities, often before they can be felt. It’s one of the most effective tools for early detection of breast cancer, which is why regular screenings are recommended for women age 40 and up or who have certain risk factors. With one in eight women diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, early detection remains the key to effective and less invasive treatment.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific requirements based on ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported back to the facility and provide the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.

This accreditation reflects AdventHealth Murray’s continued commitment to providing expert, whole-person care to the Chatsworth and Northwest Georgia communities.
