ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 12, 2025 – AdventHealth is rolling out the red carpet for the launch of the Performer Health Program, the first initiative of its kind in Central Florida designed specifically to meet the unique health needs of artists and performers.
Performers, like athletes, push their bodies and minds to extraordinary limits. A singer’s vocal cords are as vital as a runner’s feet; a dancer’s joints must deliver the same precision as a gymnast’s. Every rehearsal, every performance and every curtain call demands stamina, resilience and artistry. The program was designed with this in mind, recognizing that behind every breathtaking note, leap or line is a human body that needs care, strength and healing.
“Artists dedicate their lives to their craft. They practice, train and prepare with the same intensity as professional athletes,” said Dr. Monisha Seth, medical director for strategy and experience at AdventHealth Central Florida. “This program honors their skills by ensuring they have a trusted team of experts behind them ready to help prevent injuries, care for their bodies, support their mental health and keep the spotlight shining.”
The Performer Health Program brings together a dedicated panel of medical providers specially trained in the needs of performers, including experts in ear, nose and throat (ENT), orthopedics, family medicine, physical therapy, speech pathology and mental health. Providers receive specialty training in performing-arts medicine, an area of care that is growing nationwide but is new to Central Florida. The model functions like a concierge service: when a performer has a concern, the program connects them directly with a trained provider who understands the urgency artists face, because their bodies are essential to their craft.
The program has already quietly made an impact. During its soft launch last year, more than 650 performers accessed services, ranging from injury care to preventive screenings and education. For example, Orlando Philharmonic musicians recently received audiology screenings, and arts partners have participated in lectures and resources focused on preventing illness and injury. Mental health support, particularly around performance anxiety and other pressures unique to artists, has also been a significant component of the program.
To launch the initiative, AdventHealth has partnered with some of Central Florida’s most respected arts organizations, including Opera Orlando, Orlando Family Stage, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Plaza Live, Bach Festival Society of Winter Park, Orlando Shakes and Creative City Project. AdventHealth will also continue its collaboration with the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, where countless performances remind us of the power of creativity.
“At AdventHealth, we know the arts open the door to healing,” Seth said. “Theater, music, dance and storytelling lift us when we’re weary, inspire us in difficult moments and connect us to one another. This program is our way of giving back to the artists who bring so much life and light to our community.”
Research shows that the arts support whole-person’s health, body, mind and spirit. They can ease anxiety, reduce the progression of pain, foster resilience and bring joy. AdventHealth’s approach mirrors its long-standing commitment to caring for athletes: both performers and athletes rely on their bodies to sustain their careers, require rapid recovery when injured and benefit greatly from preventive care tailored to their field.
Together with its arts partners, AdventHealth is building a healthier, more inspired Central Florida community where performers thrive, audiences are uplifted and creativity continues to heal and make us all feel whole.
