AdventHealth is strengthening its leadership in the Rocky Mountain Region to ensure growing communities continue to have access to compassionate, whole-person care close to home and centered on what matters most to patients and families.
As part of an intentional investment and guided by AdventHealth’s mission to deliver whole-person care, Brett Spenst will step into the role of senior executive officer overseeing all aspects of the Rocky Mountain Region. David Weis will join the team as president and CEO of Rocky Mountain Region reporting to Spenst. These leadership changes reflect a continued commitment to steward growth responsibly and support our caregivers.
“As the Rocky Mountain Region continues to grow, so do the needs of the people and families who depend on our care,” said Andrew Jahn, executive vice president and CEO of the Multi-State Division of AdventHealth. “By strengthening our leadership foundation, we are ensuring our teams are supported and our communities can rely on AdventHealth for high-quality, faith-based, whole-person care today and into the future.”
With this focus on community impact and continuity of care, the following leadership appointments, effective Jan. 25, position the Rocky Mountain Region for its next chapter of service.
Brett Spenst will serve as senior executive officer of the Rocky Mountain Region, continuing to report to Jahn. Since 2023, Spenst has served as regional
president/CEO, guiding growth across a care network that includes five full-service hospitals, freestanding emergency rooms, urgent care centers, imaging and outpatient services, and primary and specialty physician practices.
Throughout his career, Spenst has led complex health systems with a steady focus on mission, stewardship and people. His leadership experience spans multiple markets and roles, including executive positions with AdventHealth Orlando, AdventHealth Littleton, Kettering Health Network in Ohio, and Adventist Health in California.
“Brett leads with purpose and a deep sense of responsibility to both people and mission,” said Jahn. “His approach reflects our promise of wholeness and ensures that as we grow, we do so with compassion, integrity and a clear focus on the communities we serve.”
Spenst holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a bachelor’s degree from Loma Linda University, and is a certified public accountant. Spenst has also been involved in global mission service for nearly 25 years, serving communities in Nepal, Rwanda, Argentina, Brazil and Hong Kong. He currently serves as chairman of the board for Scheer Memorial Adventist Hospital in Banepa, Nepal.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this region and the people who depend on us for care,” said Spenst. “Our focus will remain on supporting our caregivers, strengthening access and walking alongside our communities as they grow.”
David Weis has been named regional president/CEO of the Rocky Mountain Region, reporting to Spenst. He currently serves as president/CEO of the AdventHealth East Florida Division Atlantic Coastal Region where his leadership has been marked by thoughtful growth, operational excellence and a strong commitment to patient-centered care. Under Weis’ leadership, teams expanded surgical services, invested in advanced capabilities and strengthened care environments designed to support healing and peace of mind for patients and families.
“David brings a mission-grounded, people-first approach to leadership,” said Spenst. “He understands how strategy, operations and mission come together to create care experiences that truly support wholeness.”
Weis earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Loma Linda University, a Master of Business Administration in health care management from Quinnipiac University and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Southwestern Adventist University. Weis is actively involved in community and nonprofit service, including roles with the Daytona Regional Chamber, Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation, Food Brings Hope and Indigo Christian Junior Academy.
“I am honored to join the Rocky Mountain Region and build on the strong foundation already in place,” said Weis. “Together with our teams, we will continue expanding access to care and delivering experiences that help people feel supported, known and whole.”
These leadership appointments reflect AdventHealth’s ongoing commitment to serving the Rocky Mountain Region with stability, compassion and purpose — ensuring care remains close, connected and centered on the whole person.
