NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., February 14, 2018 The Florida Hospital New Smyrna Foundation and the Kiwanis Club Foundation of Southeast Volusia County joined together to donate funds to students at New Smyrna Beach High School on Feb. 2.
Florida Hospital New Smyrna donated $1,500 to the high schools Medical Academy and the Kiwanis Club Foundation donated $1,500 to the high schools Key Club.
These funds were raised during the 21st annual Holiday Charity Ball in November with more than 375 attendees at the Brannon Community Center.
We are very appreciative of the New Smyrna Beach High School Key Club and Medical Academy for all of their assistance and support of our annual Holiday Charity Ball, said Pat Driver, chairman of the Foundation and a member of Kiwanis. In appreciation of their ongoing dedication, we are proud to donate $1,500 from this years event to support their on-going school programs.
The Holiday Charity Ball is a New Smyrna Beach tradition that began in 1996. New Smyrna Beach philanthropist and business owner Kaye Walker planned the first event with the goal to support various local charities.
The funds raised from this years event not only supported the local high school students, but also other various youth programs in Southeast Volusia, as well as local health initiatives, such as providing mammograms for women in-need, as well as medical equipment.
