AdventHealth Fish Memorial earns Volusia County’s only five-star quality rating.
AdventHealth Fish Memorial has earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) — the highest rating a hospital can receive for overall quality.
This year, 91 fewer hospitals nationwide earned a five-star quality rating from CMS, compared to 2024. The Orange City hospital is one of just 290 in the U.S. — and among a select few in Florida — to achieve this recognition, based on patient safety, experience, outcomes, and timely, effective care.
AdventHealth Fish Memorial is the only hospital in Volusia County with this distinction.
Reaching this five-star rating represents nearly a decade of continuous improvement.
"This is an exciting moment for our team and reflects years of steady focus on creating an exceptional experience for every person we serve," said Eric Lunde, president and CEO of AdventHealth Fish Memorial. "Our team shows up each day with compassion, skill, and a deep sense of purpose. It’s an honor to be recognized this way and, more importantly, it’s a sign that our neighbors can count on high-quality care close to home."
The CMS star ratings are released annually to help consumers make informed choices about where to receive care. Across Volusia County, all AdventHealth hospitals hold high marks with AdventHealth Daytona Beach, AdventHealth DeLand and AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach each receiving a four-star rating.
"Our clinical team goes the extra mile, every day," said Dr. Stephen Knych, chief medical officer of AdventHealth Fish Memorial. "This rating is more than a number — it gives local families peace of mind that they can trust us to deliver safe, effective, world-class care right here in Volusia County."
This latest distinction adds to a growing list of national honors for AdventHealth Fish Memorial, including an "A" grade for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group, Gold Plus recognition in stroke care from the American Heart Association, and the Gold Beacon Award – the highest honor from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses – for the hospital’s ICU.
