With the opening of the second floor at the AdventHealth Medical Plaza in Mount Dora, families in Lake County now have expanded access to specialty care designed to support their whole health.
During the recent ribbon cutting and open house, the community celebrated the new home for nearly 15 physicians and advanced practice providers specializing in cardiology, OB/GYN, orthopedics, and sports medicine.
The addition expands the building’s role from a primary care facility into a destination where patients can see their everyday doctor and quickly connect with the specialists they may need.
Located at 19735 U.S. Highway 441, between Country Club Boulevard and Wolf Branch Road, the two-story, 22,260-square-foot medical office plaza originally opened to patients in January 2020 with primary care on the first floor.
As Lake County grows, access to nearby specialty care has become a challenge for many families. The expanded medical office building — along with AdventHealth’s recruitment of nearly 20 new physicians and advanced practice providers last year — helps bring more care together in one place, close to where people live.
“Our neighbors want care that fits into the rhythm of their lives,” said Brandon Nudd, AdventHealth Waterman president and CEO. “By bringing these specialties together in one place, we’re helping people move from a health concern to the right expert without extra steps. It takes some of the worry out of the process and helps families stay focused on feeling better.”
All physicians and advanced practice providers in the medical plaza are part of AdventHealth Medical Group, which delivers coordinated primary and specialty care across the region.
AdventHealth Medical Group is a network of nearly 450 physicians and advanced practice providers across Flagler, Lake, Sumter and Volusia counties, caring for patients in more than 30 specialties. In 2024 alone, providers across the region supported families through more than one million visits, from routine wellness care to complex treatment.
“Every decision we make begins with what is best for patients and families,” added Bryan Mueller, AdventHealth Medical Group president and CEO. “By bringing these specialties together in one place, we are removing some of the stress of navigating health care and giving people more time to focus on healing. Our physicians chose to practice at AdventHealth because they believe their work is a calling, rooted in compassion and whole person care.”
For nearly 30 years, Dr. J. Henry Lesmes, AdventHealth Medical Group cardiologist, has served patients at his cardiology practice on Nightingale Lane in Tavares. As the practice continues to grow, adding this new Mount Dora location helps expand access to specialty heart care closer to where more families live and work.
“In my practice, patients appreciate knowing their specialist is close by,” said Lesmes. “When care is easier to reach and appointments are all in one place, it can reduce stress for patients and their families and help them focus on feeling better.”
