NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach has named Dr. Jose Rosado as its new Chief Medical Officer, effective Jan. 19.
Rosado has been a member of the medical staff at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach since September 2009 and currently serves on the medical executive committee as Chief of Staff.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he built a career grounded in service, leadership, and whole-person care. In his new role, he will support the hospital’s nearly 950 medical staff members and provide clinical leadership, guiding quality and safety initiatives across the hospital.
“Dr. Rosado understands this hospital and this community in a deeply personal way,” said Dr. Dennis Hernandez, president and CEO of AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach. “He has grown here as a physician and leader, and he leads with integrity and a strong commitment to patient safety. I’m confident his leadership will continue to strengthen the care we provide close to home.”
With 20 years of experience caring for patients in family and emergency medicine, Rosado has served in many leadership roles at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach. His work has included helping guide medical decision-making for the hospital and leading teams focused on patient safety, the appropriate use of care, and medication practices. He has also been a driving force behind the hospital’s sepsis initiatives and other quality efforts that have led to meaningful, lasting improvements in patient care. AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach was recently designated a Top Hospital by Leapfrog for the second consecutive time. The hospital also recently received its fourth consecutive “A” Safety Grade from Leapfrog.
Board certified in Family Medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine, Rosado continued his professional journey and earned board certification in Emergency Medicine through the American Board of Physician Specialties in 2019. That same year, he was honored as Physician of the Year at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach.
“Serving as both Chief of Staff and an emergency medicine physician has given me a firsthand understanding of what our teams experience every day and what our patients need most,” said Rosado. “As Chief Medical Officer, my focus will be on supporting our physicians, strengthening safety and quality, and ensuring that every patient feels well cared for. I’m honored by the trust placed in me and excited for what we can accomplish together for our community.”
Rosado is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine. He succeeds Dr. David Goldman, who recently became Chief Medical Officer at AdventHealth Altamonte Springs.
