BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook is increasing access to specialized cardiovascular and oncologic care with the construction of two state-of-the-art catheterization laboratories.
The 15,000-square-foot addition to the hospital campus is scheduled for completion in September 2026, with patient services expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
“This expansion reflects our commitment to providing timely, high-quality cardiac care to the Bolingbrook community,” said Kenneth Rose, president and CEO, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook. “The new laboratories will significantly enhance our ability to respond to acute cardiac events and deliver life-saving interventions.”
A formal groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday, November 7, with hospital leadership, local officials and community stakeholders attending. Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta, Dr. Arnon Rubin, incoming president of the hospital’s medical staff and Gordon Wesley, Chief Strategy and Clinical Integration Officer for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth were among the guest speakers.
The new facilities are designed to improve response times for cardiac emergencies, including ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), and will boost the ability to care for patients more efficiently. The new labs will also expand access to advanced interventional radiology procedures, including image-guided biopsies and minimally invasive cancer treatments – critical services for patients facing oncologic diagnoses.
The project is being done in partnership with Bulley & Andrews and represents a coordinated effort among hospital leadership, municipal authorities, and state representatives, many of whom were recognized during the groundbreaking event for their ongoing support.
The expansion aligns with the hospital’s long-term strategy to deliver advanced cardiovascular care locally, leveraging innovation, clinical expertise, and strong physician collaboration to meet the needs of a growing Bolingbrook community.
“By integrating advanced technology and thoughtful design into a program that is close to home, we are strengthening our ability to meet the evolving needs of a growing community,” Wesley said. “These new labs will not only enhance clinical capabilities but also reinforce our commitment to access, collaboration and excellence.”
