National recognition highlights patient-centered, high-quality care close to home

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange

Patients and families seeking high-quality, safe, compassionate care close to home can feel confident choosing UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange. Forbes has named the hospital one of the nation’s highest-performing general acute care hospitals on its inaugural Forbes Top Hospitals list for 2026.

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange is one of only nine 5-Star hospitals in Illinois to achieve the recognition. Additionally, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale was recognized as a 4-Star hospital, one of 19 hospitals in Illinois to be recognized.

“Every person who comes through our doors deserves care that helps them feel whole in body, mind and spirit,” said Dave Tkachuck, president and CEO, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange. “We’re grateful Forbes has recognized the compassionate care our team provides to support safer recoveries, minimize complications and help our patients to resume their daily life with confidence.”

Of roughly 5,400 U.S. general acute care hospitals listed in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Provider Data Catalog, about 2,500 met Forbes’ inclusion criteria. Forbes evaluated the hospitals using 56 publicly reported hospital quality measures, including patient outcomes, hospital best practices, value and patient experience, with clinical outcomes (mortality, survival, infection rates and readmissions) carrying the greatest weight in determining each hospital’s overall rating. After ratings were calculated, 253 hospitals earned 5 stars and 509 earned 4 stars.

Forbes’ recognition builds on a string of recent honors that underscore La Grange’s sustained focus on safety and whole-person care. The hospital was named a Best Regional Hospital in the U.S. News & World Report 2025–26 Best Hospitals rankings, earning high-performing ratings in eight commonly performed procedures and conditions: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, congestive heart failure, heart attack, hip replacement, hip fracture, kidney failure, knee replacement, and pneumonia. The hospital ranked tied for 20th in the Chicago Metro area and tied for 21st in Illinois among more than 4,500 hospitals evaluated nationwide.

The hospital also was among only five hospitals nationwide recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review, for having one of the lowest rates of unplanned hospital visits following outpatient surgery (0.4, per the latest CMS data). The recognition highlights the hospital’s dedication to patient safety, effective care coordination and high-quality surgical care, including procedures at The Center for Advanced Joint Replacement, which performs more than 3,500 procedures annually.

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange also was recognized recently for having an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group and CMS 5-Star ratings.

“For the communities we serve, these recent recognitions mean the care we provide is not only high-quality but truly patient-centered,” Tkachuck said. “We are thankful for our community’s trust and remain focused on extending the healing ministry of Christ by serving with compassion so each person can feel whole.”
