Patients undergoing outpatient surgery at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange can have greater confidence in their recovery and overall well-being. According to the latest CMS data, the hospital has one of the lowest rates of unplanned hospital visits after outpatient surgery in the nation—just 0.4—placing it among only five hospitals nationwide recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review.
This achievement highlights the hospital’s focus on patient safety and high-quality surgical care across all outpatient specialties, including total joint replacements. It reflects a continued commitment to positive outcomes, minimizing complications, and helping patients resume their daily lives more quickly.
“This recognition provides great reassurance for our patients,” said Dave Tkachuck, president and CEO of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange. “It means our patients are more likely to recover safely at home, without needing to return unexpectedly to the hospital. From surgical teams to nurses to care coordinators, everyone works together to support smoother, safer recoveries. Patients can focus on healing, knowing they are in expert hands.”
One area that leads with low readmissions is The Center for Advanced Joint Replacement, located on the second floor of the Outpatient Pavilion at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange. Opened in 2020, the center performs more than 3,000 cases a year and prioritizes patient convenience by streamlining pre-op visits so patients can complete scans, lab work, and consultations efficiently. Its specialized focus on joint replacement enables close collaboration with the hospital to optimize outcomes.
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange’s distinction aligns with its Leapfrog “A” Hospital Safety Grade and 5-star CMS ratings, providing additional assurance to the community that care is both safe and high quality. These recognitions underscore the hospital’s approach to whole-person care, prioritizing the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of every patient. Read more from Becker’s here.
